Work experience

  • Scientist, ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, Delhi Office, Pusa Campus (India) from Oct 9, 2015 – to date
  • Scientist Probationer, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad (India) from July 1, 2015 to Sep 30, 2015

Area of interest
Transcriptomic studies and development of Genome Edited maize for useful breeding traits.

Most significant achievements (in last five years)

  • Standardized in vitro regeneration protocol in tropical maize using nodal explants/mature embryo.
  • Identified Phosphorus use efficient (PUE) maize line via hydroponic culture.
  • As team member, standardized a hydroponic-based rapid method of screening for drought stress tolerance in maize.
  • As team member, identified a set of differentially expressed miRNAs in tropical maize subjected to different abiotic stresses (drought, water-logging and Phosphate-deficiency).
  • Identified genes and glycoproteins preferentially expressed during cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) fibre development. Further, cloned, characterized and registered five novel genes related to cotton fibre development.
