Title of project: Pre-breeding of wild crosses for yield enhancement and climate resilience maize using wild species
Funding agency: DST- Science and Engineering Research Board
Total approved cost of the project: 33.71 lakhs
Objective:
- To characterize the teosinte and tripsaccum accessions based on morphology and molecular studies
- To map the genomic regions for yield associated- and climate resilience traits in maize-teosinte and tripsaccum BC2F2 population
- To diversify the maize germplasm for yield associated- and climate resilience traits
Project team: PI- Dr. Pardeep Kumar
Major achievements: – Developed the two BC2F2 population through crossing of LM-13 & LM-14 with Zea parviglumis
