Area of interest: Genetic improvement for abiotic stress tolerance in crops

Most significant achievements (in last five years):

  • Developed a QPM maize hybrid IQMH 203 (LQMH 1705) (IIMRQPMH 1705). Average yield of this hybrid is 63 quintal per hectare and recommended for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chatishgarh and Madhya Pradesh. This hybrid is resistant to FSR, moderately resistant to CLS and stem borer (Chilo partellus), high tryptophan (0.77%) and lysine (3.48%) content.
  • Developed a formula MASV 2 – A new formula for modified AMMI stability value; which will help crop researchers to rank their genotypes on the basis of yield and stability.
  • Developed genotypes in groundnut for fresh seed dormancy, foliar disease resistance, and confectionery traits.
  • Developed hybrids in maize for early maturity, which are under testing.
  • Developed maize inbred lines for cold stress tolerance.
