Area of interest
To pursue and coordinate frontier multi-disciplinary research towards genetic improvement of maize to increase productivity and nutritional quality.

 Most significant achievements (in last five years)

  • Developed and released following maize hybrids, viz., DMRH1305 (Early Maturing Normal field corn), IMHB 1532 (Baby corn) and IMHB1539 (Baby corn).
  • Developed novel genetic material for enhancement of oil and improvement of protein quality in maize.

  • Initiated population improvement for high oil corn improvement
  • Developed novel germplasm for development of QPM hybrids and improvement of kernel methionine content
